about
Producer’s note: Dorjee rarely plays the guitar, but one day he picked up mine and started strumming this tune about Canada. This was in 2015. Certainly Canada’s upcoming Sesquicentennial was not on anybody’s radar, but I quickly grabbed a mic because it was such a heartfelt and straight forward message of gratitude for how much his life had improved since coming to Canada, even though at that time his 3 children were still in India and he had been waiting for their papers to clear for more than 4 years. (The kids made it to Toronto in January 2016.) Between 2015 and the final recording of the song, it has gone through many changes, but the core of humble thanks remains. We added the English/Tibetan verses in early 2017. Hope you enjoy the final product, and that it helps you appreciate, even with all its flaws, this wonderful country whose name comes from the Huron-Iroquois word for village, Kanata. ~ Lou Natale
